Commitment

1

The size of the bonito

In spring, young 2-3kg first-catch bonito; in autumn, richly fatty 4-5kg returning bonito, carefully selected by season.

2

Raw bonito from Kochi

Most Kochi bonito is pole-and-line caught, leaving it beautiful and undamaged. We ship our select bonito direct from the port.

3

Straw from Shiga

We use straw hand-cut ourselves from vast contracted fields in Shiga. Dried straw burns hot with the finest smoky aroma.

4

The grilling

Over straw flames reaching 1000 degrees, we sear a crust about 5mm into the flesh, then finish with residual heat to lock in flavor.

5

The thickness of the cut

Cut over 1cm thick so the straw aroma fills your mouth, brimming with bonito flavor and a springy texture.

6

Our chosen salt

A fully sun-dried salt handmade by artisans from Kochi seawater. We select larger crystals for a mellow mineral taste.

Service

01

Robata & Warayaki

Bonito from Kochi and Omi beef from Shiga, grilled over straw right before you. Seasonal fish and vegetables draw out their fullest flavor over charcoal.

02

03

Seafood & Sashimi

Fresh fish shipped straight from the port, finished into sashimi by skilled hands. Enjoy the seafood of Yasu in seasonal plates such as our five-kind sashimi platter.

04

Omi Beef & Omi Chicken

Shiga's specialty Omi beef, straw-grilled or miso-marinated, and overnight-dried Omi chicken. Enjoy Shiga's premium ingredients dynamically over charcoal in Yasu.

05

Private Rooms & Banquets

Relaxing private rooms, banquet courses with free-flow drinks, and full-venue bookings on request. Steps from Yasu Station — ideal for company parties and gatherings.

How to enjoy Robata

Robata Story

01

A 45 seat room puts you near the fire

Thirteen counter seats, twelve table seats, eight in the private room and twelve on the terrace: 45 in all. In a room this size, the flames and the crackle of the straw reach every seat.

02

Nothing added, just the ingredient

The finished surface carries the smoke of burning straw. Leave the first slice unseasoned and taste the natural sweetness underneath.

03

In winter, cold yellowtail with salt and citrus

Later in the plate, shift with condiments, rock salt and citrus. Winter brings kanburi yellowtail, whose fat loosens and lightens against salt and citrus.

04

A cigarette and a cup, out to the terrace

Every seat, including the twelve on the terrace, allows smoking. Our staff suggest Shiga sake, dry through sweet, to match your sashimi or straw-grilled dish.

Producers

The Key to a Successful Banquet in Yasu: Perfect for Business Dinners and Anniversaries

How to Host a Successful Banquet in Yasu: A Guide to Choosing the Right Venue for Business Dinners and Anniversaries

Whether it's a welcome or farewell party for colleagues, a dinner with important clients, or a private gathering like a family birthday or wedding anniversary, it's no exaggeration to say that the success of any banquet in Yasu hinges on choosing the right venue. Especially for a special occasion banquet in Yasu that needs to be a cut above your everyday izakaya, the requirements are numerous. Delicious food and high-quality drinks are a given, but a private space, attentive service, and an environment where all guests can feel comfortable are essential.

However, even with a general search for a 'banquet in Yasu,' finding the one perfect spot for your purpose from countless options isn't easy. For instance, a business dinner requires a calm atmosphere and a private room that doesn't interrupt conversation. On the other hand, for a family anniversary, a surprise element or a special dessert might make the day unforgettable.

In this column, we'll delve into the elements that make you think, 'I wish there was a place like this,' for your important event in Yasu, and introduce our services as a concrete solution. We hope you'll find tips here to create the ultimate 'Yasu banquet' experience.

Creating the Perfect 'Yasu Banquet': How to Choose Between Private Rooms and Full Venue Bookings

Securing a private space is a crucial element for a successful 'Yasu banquet.' It's particularly important to choose the optimal space for your purpose, whether it's a business dinner involving confidential discussions or an anniversary where you want to talk freely with loved ones.

The Ideal Private Rooms in Yasu for Smooth Business Negotiations

  • For business dinners, an environment where you can talk calmly without worrying about other customers is essential. Our private rooms can accommodate small to medium-sized groups, providing a quiet setting, separated from the surrounding hustle and bustle, to facilitate smooth negotiations and deep communication.

  • Our private rooms are not just partitioned spaces; they feature meticulously designed interiors with a calm, traditional Japanese aesthetic. By balancing a dignified atmosphere suitable for business with a relaxing level of comfort, we ensure your guests can fully enjoy their time.

  • When you book, please let us know the number of guests and your preferred room type (e.g., sunken kotatsu seating, table seating), and we will recommend the optimal private room for you.

Convenient Full Venue Bookings in Yasu for Large Groups

  • For large-scale 'Yasu banquets,' such as company-wide parties or large welcome and farewell gatherings, you can also book the entire floor of the restaurant or a section of it. A full venue booking creates an exclusive, private space for your group, fostering a greater sense of unity for your event.

  • For private bookings, we can flexibly accommodate requests such as layout changes or bringing in your own equipment like projectors. Please feel free to consult with us in advance. We provide meticulous support to help organizers bring their ideal banquet to life.

The Distinctive Flavors of Yasu: The Allure of Premium Sake and Fish Straight from the Port

The stars of any 'Yasu banquet' are, without a doubt, the food and drinks. Our philosophy is to make no compromises on either. In particular, the combination of 'Yasu Sake' and 'Fresh Fish Direct from the Port' is something we are confident will bring deep satisfaction and delight to our customers.

Exceptionally Fresh! Exquisite Dishes Crafted from Seafood Delivered Directly from the Fishing Port

  • The lifeblood of our seafood cuisine is the fresh fish and shellfish we procure directly from the market every morning. Our skilled chefs use their expert techniques to prepare the finest seasonal fish delivered straight from ports across the country. Even with a simple sashimi platter, we pay close attention to the cut and presentation according to the type of fish to bring out its inherent umami flavor.

  • Seasonal seafood offers a unique taste that can only be enjoyed at that specific time of year. You can savor the bounty of the seasons: cherry sea bream in spring, pike conger in summer, returning bonito in autumn, and blowfish and crab in winter. These seasonal catches are the finest ingredients that convey the essence of Japanese cuisine and are sure to please your palate.

  • There's no deception in the words 'Fresh Fish Direct from the Port.' We invite you to experience our seafood dishes for yourself.

A Curated Selection of 'Yasu Sake' to Enhance Your Meal

  • To pair with our fresh seafood dishes, we place a special emphasis on our sake selection. We have curated a collection of famous sake from all over Japan, striving to let you fully experience the charm of 'Yasu Sake.' We offer a diverse range of types—dry, sweet, junmai, ginjo, and more—so that you can enjoy finding the perfect pairing for your meal and preferences.

  • We also actively incorporate seasonal sakes and local brews from Shiga Prefecture, ensuring there's always something new to discover with each visit. Our knowledgeable staff is always on hand to recommend the perfect bottle based on your tastes and the day's menu.

  • For example, we can offer specific pairing advice, such as a crisp and dry junmai ginjo for a light white fish, or a full-bodied junmai with a rich rice flavor for an oily fish. We provide a selection and service that will satisfy everyone, from sake novices to connoisseurs.

Peace of Mind for Event Organizers: Our Comprehensive and Customizable 'Yasu Banquet Courses'

For organizers planning a 'Yasu banquet,' the next major challenge after choosing a venue is deciding on the menu. It's a daunting task to consider participants' preferences, allergies, and budget to find a plan that satisfies everyone. At our restaurant, we offer a wide variety of 'Yasu Banquet Courses' to ease the burden on organizers and ensure everyone has a great time.

A Variety of Banquet Courses to Suit Any Occasion and Budget

  • We offer multiple course menus to suit any occasion, from casual get-togethers to formal business dinners and celebratory anniversary parties. Options include seasonal courses featuring an abundance of fresh ingredients, standard courses that cover all our signature dishes, and luxurious special courses perfect for a milestone day.

  • Each course is well-balanced, featuring an array of dishes from sashimi and grilled items to fried foods, simmered dishes, and a concluding rice dish, with each plate showcasing the chef's skill. We also have extensive all-you-can-drink plans, including options with beer, sours, shochu, cocktails, as well as premium sake and wine, ensuring that even guests who love to drink will be satisfied.

  • Our 'Yasu Banquet Courses' are offered at a wide range of price points to fit your budget, allowing organizers to choose the best plan with confidence.

Flexible Accommodations for Allergies and Dietary Restrictions

  • You can rest assured even if some participants have allergies or dietary restrictions. If you inform us in advance when booking, we will do our best to accommodate individual needs. For example, for a guest with a shellfish allergy, we can flexibly prepare an alternative dish using different ingredients.

  • This comes from our strong desire for all our guests to enjoy their meal safely and to the fullest. In addition to allergies, we can also consider requests for vegetarian or vegan options with prior consultation. Please do not hesitate to ask.

  • We believe that this level of detailed attention helps create a 'Yasu banquet' that is memorable for every single participant.

A Welcoming Space for Smokers: Our 'Smoking-Permitted Izakaya' in Yasu

In recent years, with the growing trend toward non-smoking environments, it has become difficult for smokers to find places where they can smoke comfortably. However, at a 'Yasu banquet,' we believe it's our important role to provide an environment where both smoking and non-smoking guests can feel comfortable.

Why We Remain a 'Smoking-Permitted Izakaya' in an Age of Non-Smoking Venues

  • To meet the diverse needs of our customers, we also offer the option of a 'smoking-permitted izakaya in Yasu.' While not all seats are designated for smoking, we have established dedicated smoking rooms and smoking-permitted private rooms for guests who wish to smoke.

  • This allows non-smoking guests to enjoy their meal without being bothered by smoke, while smoking guests can smoke without feeling self-conscious. By consulting with us in advance about your group's preferences, we can propose the most suitable seating arrangement for your banquet.

  • Our smoking rooms are equipped with high-performance ventilation systems, and we take the utmost care to ensure that smoke and odors do not affect other guests. Please feel at ease.

Reducing the Interruption of Mid-Banquet Smoke Breaks

  • Leaving your seat in the middle of a banquet to have a cigarette can interrupt the conversation and be somewhat stressful. However, with a smoking-permitted private room or an adjacent smoking area, such interruptions can be minimized, allowing the banquet to proceed smoothly.

  • Maintaining the flow of conversation is particularly important in business entertainment. For guests who smoke, this kind of consideration is often appreciated as a form of detailed hospitality.

Making Your Special Day Shine: Practical Tips for Our Business Dinner and Anniversary Plans

Among all 'Yasu banquets,' 'business dinners' and 'anniversaries' are especially meaningful occasions for our guests. We offer special plans and services to make these important events even more memorable. Here are some practical tips for using them to add an unforgettable touch to your dining experience.

Hospitality Tips for a Successful Business Dinner

  1. Detailed Pre-Event Consultation: The success of a business dinner depends on preparation. When booking, please share details about your guests' preferences (e.g., Japanese vs. Western food, drink choices, allergies, dislikes), their background, position, and the purpose of the dinner. Based on this information, we will propose the optimal course, drinks, and seating arrangement.

  2. Adjusting Service Timing: The timing of when dishes are served is crucial so as not to interrupt the flow of conversation. If requested in advance, we will adjust the pace of service and can provide a detailed explanation of each dish, catering to your group's rhythm.

  3. Souvenir Arrangement Support: We can also accommodate requests for a small souvenir to present at the end of the dinner. We can introduce and help arrange for products from our local partner shops, such as local Yasu sake or seasonal Japanese sweets.

Creative Ideas to Make Your Anniversary Unforgettable

  1. Dessert Plate with a Personalized Message: For birthdays and wedding anniversaries, we can prepare a surprise dessert plate with a custom message. Just let us know in advance what you'd like it to say, such as 'Happy Birthday' or 'Happy Anniversary,' and we'll help you create a lasting memory.

  2. Flower Bouquet & Cake Arrangement Service: Flowers and cake are essential for an anniversary. We can arrange them on your behalf from local florists and bakeries. Simply tell us your budget and preferences, and we will have the perfect items prepared for a seamless presentation during your banquet.

  3. Commemorative Photo Service: Many people want to capture the memory of a special day. Our staff will be happy to assist by taking a group photo or commemorative picture for you using your camera or smartphone. Allow us to help you capture a perfect shot of your memorable moment.
