Commitment

1

The size of the bonito

In spring, young 2-3kg first-catch bonito; in autumn, richly fatty 4-5kg returning bonito, carefully selected by season.

2

Raw bonito from Kochi

Most Kochi bonito is pole-and-line caught, leaving it beautiful and undamaged. We ship our select bonito direct from the port.

3

Straw from Shiga

We use straw hand-cut ourselves from vast contracted fields in Shiga. Dried straw burns hot with the finest smoky aroma.

4

The grilling

Over straw flames reaching 1000 degrees, we sear a crust about 5mm into the flesh, then finish with residual heat to lock in flavor.

5

The thickness of the cut

Cut over 1cm thick so the straw aroma fills your mouth, brimming with bonito flavor and a springy texture.

6

Our chosen salt

A fully sun-dried salt handmade by artisans from Kochi seawater. We select larger crystals for a mellow mineral taste.

Service

01

Robata & Warayaki

Bonito from Kochi and Omi beef from Shiga, grilled over straw right before you. Seasonal fish and vegetables draw out their fullest flavor over charcoal.

02

03

Seafood & Sashimi

Fresh fish shipped straight from the port, finished into sashimi by skilled hands. Enjoy the seafood of Yasu in seasonal plates such as our five-kind sashimi platter.

04

Omi Beef & Omi Chicken

Shiga's specialty Omi beef, straw-grilled or miso-marinated, and overnight-dried Omi chicken. Enjoy Shiga's premium ingredients dynamically over charcoal in Yasu.

05

Private Rooms & Banquets

Relaxing private rooms, banquet courses with free-flow drinks, and full-venue bookings on request. Steps from Yasu Station — ideal for company parties and gatherings.

How to enjoy Robata

Robata Story

01

A 45 seat room puts you near the fire

Thirteen counter seats, twelve table seats, eight in the private room and twelve on the terrace: 45 in all. In a room this size, the flames and the crackle of the straw reach every seat.

02

Nothing added, just the ingredient

The finished surface carries the smoke of burning straw. Leave the first slice unseasoned and taste the natural sweetness underneath.

03

In winter, cold yellowtail with salt and citrus

Later in the plate, shift with condiments, rock salt and citrus. Winter brings kanburi yellowtail, whose fat loosens and lightens against salt and citrus.

04

A cigarette and a cup, out to the terrace

Every seat, including the twelve on the terrace, allows smoking. Our staff suggest Shiga sake, dry through sweet, to match your sashimi or straw-grilled dish.

Producers

Tosa-Saga Port, KochiIkkatsu no Daiki

Saga is where the Kuroshio current first meets Japan, a town thriving on pole-and-line bonito fishing and one of Kochi's foremost fishing towns.

Tano, KochiTanoya Seihachi

A genuine sun-dried salt made using only the sun's heat, with painstaking care. Entirely handmade, it grows into crystals that melt in the mouth, the very finest sun-dried salt.

Yasu Event Organizers: The Secret to a Successful Izakaya Choice!

To All Event Organizers in Yasu: The First Step to Success, the Art of Choosing a Venue

I'm looking for an izakaya in Yasu, but which one is best?
I've been tasked with organizing a company party, a gathering with friends, or an important client dinner. It's so difficult to find a place that all attendees will truly enjoy…

We believe many event organizers share these concerns. Balancing the quality of the food, the variety of drinks, the restaurant's atmosphere, and the budget can be a real headache. We sincerely listen to these concerns and strive daily to ensure your event becomes a wonderful memory. In this article, we will carefully introduce the secrets to choosing a restaurant in Yasu that you can select with confidence, especially from the perspective of food and wine pairings.

Here in Yasu, we don't just want to serve delicious food; we want to provide a special experience that adds color to your gathering. That is our wish. In particular, the combination of fresh, local Yasu ingredients and perfectly paired wines will surely make your event unforgettable. We hope this article serves as a reliable guide for you when choosing an izakaya in Yasu as an event organizer.

We'll Solve Your Problems! Challenges and Solutions for Choosing an Izakaya in Yasu

The challenges an event organizer faces when choosing a venue are diverse. Can you find a satisfying course within budget? Can you accommodate guests' preferences and allergies? Is the atmosphere suitable for the occasion? Above all, the question of will everyone truly enjoy the combination of food and drinks? is a constant source of pressure for any organizer.

The Three Major Worries of Choosing a Venue

  • Satisfying all attendees: Amidst differing tastes, it's a monumental task to choose a place where everyone feels this is delicious and this is fun. You need to meet the needs of those who drink, those who don't, those who prioritize the meal, and those who want to enjoy conversation.
  • Balancing food and drinks: The food is great, but the drinks are lacking. Or vice versa. Many people feel that for a special event, they want to enjoy the best possible combination. There's a growing demand for options beyond the standard beer and sake.
  • Atmosphere and service: Not too noisy, but not too formal either. The availability of private rooms and the attitude of the staff are also crucial checkpoints for organizers. Our izakaya in Kitano is dedicated to providing a space where everyone can relax and enjoy their time.

In response to these challenges, we offer a new proposal from the perspective of food and wine pairings. As an izakaya in Yasu, we aim to enrich your event not just by listing items on a menu, but by suggesting the perfect drink for each and every dish.

A Must-See for Organizers! Achieving the Delicious Relationship Between Food and Wine in Yasu

For organizers searching for that perfect izakaya in Yasu, our wine pairing proposal will be a significant draw. Generally, izakayas are associated with beer and sake. However, at our establishment, we introduce our guests to the surprising and wonderful compatibility of Japanese cuisine, seafood, and wine.

The Miraculous Encounter of Yasu Seafood and Wine

  • Fresh seafood and white wine: Taking advantage of Yasu's prime location, we source fresh seafood daily. For example, a crisp, dry white wine with refreshing citrus notes is a perfect match for fresh white fish sashimi. It enhances the fish's delicate natural umami, creating an exceptional harmony in your mouth. For seared or grilled fish, we also recommend a slightly richer white wine or an oak-aged variety.

  • Seafood ajillo and sparkling wine: For an ajillo with plump shrimp and scallops, a sparkling wine with pleasant bubbles is a perfect fit. The rich flavor of the olive oil and the crisp acidity of the sparkling wine will further stimulate your appetite. Experiencing this combination at an izakaya in Yasu is sure to be a new discovery.

  • Seasonal vegetable tempura and rosé wine: Tempura made with seasonal vegetables pairs exceptionally well with a light rosé wine. The gentle fruitiness and acidity of the rosé envelop the sweetness of the vegetables and the fragrance of the oil, leaving a clean, refreshing aftertaste.

We carefully select the optimal wine for each dish and propose it to our customers, aiming to provide a dining experience that transcends the conventional izakaya framework. For organizers looking for an izakaya in Yasu, we invite you to consider this new approach to take your event to the next level.

Smiles for All Attendees! How to Use Wine Pairings for Different Occasions

Isn't an organizer's greatest concern whether all attendees will be genuinely happy and think, I'm glad I came? At our izakaya, we make the most of wine pairings to suit various event scenes and enhance everyone's satisfaction.

  1. Business Receptions and Dinners

  • Quiet private rooms and specially selected wines: For dinners with important clients, we provide quiet and calm private rooms and select high-quality wines that won't interrupt the conversation. For instance, with a course featuring seasonal ingredients prepared by our head chef, we suggest an elegantly aromatic wine that won't overpower the flavors of the food. We will choose the perfect bottle of red, white, or sparkling wine to match your guest's preferences, facilitating smooth conversation and creating a special atmosphere.

  • Flexible accommodation for allergies and preferences: By inquiring about your needs in advance, we can adjust the menu and wine selection to accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and drink preferences. This thoughtful consideration conveys our hospitality and supports a seamless event. We are here to help make your banquet in Yasu a success with our meticulous service.

  1. Casual Get-Togethers with Friends

  • Enjoyable house wines and dishes: When gathering with close friends, you want to enjoy delicious wine and food in a relaxed setting. Our house wines are carefully chosen to pair well with any dish, and the option to try various wines by the glass is another great feature. Our convenient access from Yasu Station makes us an ideal choice for a stop after work or on a day off.

  • Recommendations from our wine list: Even if you have wine lovers in your group, we can recommend selections from our extensive lineup. For example, a white wine with a vibrant aroma for a carpaccio made with Yasu seafood. Or a medium-bodied red wine for grilled local vegetables. Enjoy pairings that spark conversation and create a memorable time.

  1. Large Company Banquets and Social Gatherings

  • Adding wine to all-you-can-drink plans: The joy of wine pairing can be incorporated even into large-scale banquets. We offer an option to add several types of wine to our standard all-you-can-drink plan, allowing attendees to choose drinks according to their tastes. This provides a wider range of choices beyond just beer and sake, significantly enhancing the banquet's satisfaction level.

  • Shared platters and bottle service: For dishes served on large platters for sharing, we recommend ordering a few bottles of wine for the group. Placing several types of wine on the table allows everyone to discuss and enjoy different food and wine combinations, fostering a sense of togetherness. As an izakaya in Kitano, our staff is dedicated to creating an environment that deepens your connections.

As you can see, our izakaya can offer flexible wine pairing suggestions tailored to the organizer's purpose and the attendees. When searching for an izakaya for your event in Yasu, please take advantage of our detailed service.

  1. Smooth Support on the Day of the Event

  • Dedicated staff support: On the day of the banquet, a dedicated staff member will work closely with the organizer to provide support. We will handle the timing of food and drink service, additional orders, and the execution of any surprises, working behind the scenes so that you can fully enjoy the event yourself.

  • Flexible response to sudden changes: We will respond as flexibly as possible to unexpected situations, such as changes in the number of guests or last-minute allergy notifications. If any issues arise, please don't hesitate to speak with our staff. As a drinking spot near Yasu Station, we promise to provide a place where everyone can have a good time without worry.
